Margaret Garcia

Margaret Garcia was born Sept. 1951 in East Los Angeles, she grew up in Boyle Heights and credits her great grandmother, as being one of the most important figures in her life.  Margaret says, she was exposed to Art and books by her great grandmother and she embued her with a strong sense of self and pride. Her work concerns itself with the individual, individual moments she shares. “The painting is a document of the moment and the moment is the most important thing, in this we share stories about ourselves and how we share our lives.  So as a whole the body of work I provide is a look at my community through the presence of the individual.  This is my history and my family.”
